1st WALKINGTON CUB SCOUTS The Cub Scouts have been running for 31 years. But if we don't get help soon, the thriving pack will have to close. If you are 18 or over and feel that you would like to be involved, have a few hours to spare and feel like a challenge, why not come along to a meeting and join in the fun? No experience is necessary and you would be under no obligation. If you would like to come along one Tuesday evening, do not hesitate to contact Heather Milson (868988). |

NEWSLETTER COLLECTION We have someone regularly picking up the newsletters from the printers, however, there are inevitably some times when he is not available. DO YOU WORK IN HULL AND WOULD YOU BE ABLE TO HELP BY PICKING THEM UP WHEN WE HAVE A PROBLEM? The printers are in Madeley Street, off the exit from Clive Sullivan Way nearest to Hull Royal Infirmary. If you can help, please ring me on: 867123 so that I can add your name and phone number to the list of people I can ring in emergencies. Jean Williams |

10 and 11 Year old Village lads need a Team and a Coach David Bell after a lot of work in the last two years, is standing down as coach of this years under 10's, so next year there will be no Sunday league team for lads currently aged 10 and 11. If anyone is interested in running an eleven a side under 12's (combining lads in next years 6 and 7) or solely an under 11's team please ring Sarah Hill-Sugden on 865188. Funds Request - If any company or person can provide sponsorship or financial assistance to the club (small donations also very welcome) we would love to hear from you. Please ring Chris Dunnachie on 863074. |

Northlands House I'm interested in finding further information about the building I know as Northlands House - now the Manor House Hotel. I used to live there in the mid '70s, and have not been back to the area for about 25 years. Consequently, I am trying to find a resource, or direction to such, that might have some pictures or information about the house and was hoping someone in Walkington itself might be able to direct me in the right direction. NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH The appeal in the Newsletter some months ago for estate or street co-ordinators produced only one offer of help! For a Village renowned for it's community spirit, this was very disappointing. Neighbourhood Watch is designed to foster more effective police support so as to create a safer society. Apart from this obvious benefit, householders within a NW Scheme enjoy preferential house insurance rates because of lower criminal activity. All this is only possible by having sufficient co-ordinators to give acceptable area coverage. If you are willing to help please contact George Southern – telephone 868704. |

My thanks go to the many generous donors who last summer gave me so much fruit for jamming, and to all those who have brought me jars, many anonymously. By now my supply is running low. If you have any suitable empty jam or marmalade jars with lids that you can spare please phone 867123 to arrange collection, or simply leave them on my doorstep at 42, Crake Wells. I shall be most grateful. Some people are already supporting next year's Hayride by purchasing jam, marmalade and curd from me, and I would be happy to receive further requests at any time.
